Women’s knowledge, capabilities and leadership are essential to shaping a more inclusive, resilient and forward-looking MENA region
MENA Impact Women is an independent, women-led regional platform advancing applied research, strategic empowerment and women-led impact across the Middle East and North Africa.
We were created in response to an urgent regional reality.
Women and girls across the MENA region are facing an unprecedented convergence of longstanding gender inequalities, fragile labour markets, rising living costs, political instability, ongoing wars and armed conflicts, forced displacement, and restrictions on mobility and participation.
At the same time, rapid digital transformation and artificial intelligence are reshaping employment, skills, communication and access to opportunity, creating new risks of exclusion for those already facing structural disadvantage.
This is not only a gender challenge. It is a regional emergency.
Women across the region already possess education, professional experience, creativity, local knowledge, resilience and ambition.
Yet these resources do not automatically translate into economic security, clear professional direction, suitable opportunities, leadership or meaningful participation.
The challenge is not simply a lack of skills. It is the gap between what women already possess and what they are effectively able to do with it.
MENA Impact Women works to understand and address this conversion gap.
We generate evidence grounded in women’s lived realities, voices and aspirations.
We do not treat women as passive beneficiaries or apply one-size-fits-all solutions. We recognise women as knowledge holders and active contributors to the design of research, programmes and practical responses.
Our work connects local knowledge, professional expertise and regional evidence to develop more relevant, inclusive and effective pathways for change.
To generate reliable, current and locally grounded knowledge on the realities, capabilities and challenges of girls and women across the MENA region, and to transform that knowledge into strategic empowerment, practical opportunities, stronger networks and meaningful action.
We work to ensure that women’s experiences and perspectives inform research, programmes, public debate, institutional decision-making and technological development, including artificial intelligence.
We also support women in recognising, organising and mobilising their existing capabilities so they can move towards clearer direction, stronger agency and sustainable professional, economic and social pathways.
A MENA region in which girls and women are accurately represented, fully recognised and able to transform their capabilities into agency, opportunity, leadership and lasting impact.
We envision a future shaped by reliable knowledge, inclusive innovation and the full participation of women in social, economic and technological progress.
A future in which artificial intelligence, institutions and public narratives are informed by trustworthy regional evidence rather than incomplete, distorted or unrepresentative information.
Research & Insights
We design and conduct field-based research on the pressures, opportunities, capabilities and conditions shaping the lives of girls and women across the MENA region.
Our work generates reliable, current and context-specific evidence, bringing forward perspectives often absent from international datasets, public narratives and technological systems.
We examine not only the barriers women face, but also the resources they already possess and the conditions required to transform those resources into agency, opportunity and meaningful outcomes.
Strategic Empowerment & Learning
Through MENA 4 WEM Academy, we translate research into practical learning and strategic empowerment programmes.
We support women in recognising and organising their existing capabilities, clarifying their direction, strengthening relevant knowledge and developing realistic pathways towards employment, entrepreneurship, professional transition, leadership and social impact.
Our approach goes beyond conventional training. It connects skills with mentoring, strategic planning, networks, economic feasibility and implementation support.
Collaborative Projects
We collaborate with organisations, researchers, professionals and local actors to co-develop projects grounded in regional realities.
These initiatives combine research, local knowledge, communication, gender-sensitive analysis and practical implementation.
Our aim is to support projects that are relevant to the communities they serve and capable of producing meaningful and sustainable results.
Advisory Services
We provide evidence-based advisory support to organisations, programmes and institutions seeking to better understand the realities of women and girls across the region.
We help partners integrate contextual evidence into programme design, communication strategies and decision-making.
Our advisory work supports more inclusive, responsive and effective approaches to women’s empowerment, participation and development.
Publishing & Thought Leadership
Through Media Liberata, our independent publishing house, we produce research reports, analytical articles, critical reflections and publications on women’s empowerment, media, communication, technology and regional transformation.
Publishing allows us to extend the reach of regional knowledge, challenge incomplete narratives and contribute to more informed public and institutional debate.
Webinars, Events & Network
We organise webinars, discussions, applied sessions and networking activities that connect women, researchers, experts, practitioners and organisations across the region.
These spaces support knowledge exchange, mentoring, professional visibility, collaboration and access to opportunities.
They also contribute to building a growing regional network engaged in research, learning, publishing and action.
MENA Impact Women exists to ensure that women and girls are not further marginalised by conflict, economic instability and technological transformation.
We work to make visible what is often overlooked, strengthen women’s agency and help create the conditions needed to transform capabilities into concrete opportunities and lasting impact.
Because the future of the MENA region cannot be built without women’s knowledge, leadership and full participation.
